College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences
The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences provides students with a broad and interconnected education in the arts, humanities, language, literature, and the social and behavioral sciences.
Through its four divisions, the college offers 10 major programs, 17 minor programs, three master’s programs, and courses that fulfill professional preparation requirements of other institutions of higher education.
The college also has a long tradition of sponsoring or co-sponsoring major conferences
on important academic, intellectual, educational, community, and public policy issues.
These include the CLASS Annual Research Conference, the Regional Language Arts Conference,
the CLASS Colloquium Series, the University of Guam Film Festival.

The University of Guam celebrated one of its largest graduating classes in Spring 2025, awarding 375 degrees across key workforce sectors including healthcare, STEM, education, and public service. With a keynote by Palau's President and inspiring messages from UOG leadership and valedictorians, the event showcased UOG’s growing impact on regional development and professional readiness.
The University of Guam will celebrate the achievements of 375 graduates at its Fañomnåkan (Spring) 2025 Commencement Ceremony, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the UOG Calvo Field House.
The Consulate-General of Japan in Hagåtña announced in a press release that "The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette" was awarded to Dr. Toyoko Poong-Ja Kang, Professor Emerita of Japanese Language at the University of Guam.
Researchers at the University of Guam are enhancing environmental data collection by adapting geographic mapping tools for local use. At the 2024 UOG Conference on Island Sustainability, faculty showcased how GIS and satellite remote sensing technologies are being used to assess natural resources, including wildfire-impacted grasslands and watersheds. This initiative aims to support faster, more efficient decision-making for island conservation efforts.
